Woodworm (Anobium punctatum)
It lives in houses. It is the greatest enemy of furniture made of wood. The beetle’s larvae bore long galleries inside the wood and remain enclosed there. It works by hitting the walls of these hollows with its long mandibles. This hitting produces a strange and rhythmic squeaking sound. After the woodworm reaches the adult beetle stage, it bores through the wood and emerges. The small holes we see on the surface of the wood are nothing but these exit gates.
