I’ve been using Turkcell’s MultiVINN device for about six months. I previously reviewed the modem. However, despite contacting Turkcell numerous times regarding the connection problems I’ve been experiencing for a long time, I haven’t been able to make any progress due to a base station issue.
Today, I read a news report that the BTK (Information and Communication Technologies Authority) is seeking a solution to the connection problems experienced with 3G in indoor areas, and that the solution involves providing 3G data service in 2G coverage areas. I hope that when these efforts are successful, we will have consistent 3G speeds.
What was my problem?
I live in the Akşemsettin neighborhood of Alibeyköy, and due to the inadequacy of base stations (as Turkcell claims) in my area, I can’t receive full 3G service. MultiVinn, which occasionally returns to speeds like EDGE and WCDMA, takes the internet back to the early 2000s.
Meanwhile, because I can’t access MultiVinn’s antenna, I can’t upgrade it. In some places, while the iPhone reaches 3G, MultiVinn remains on EDGE.
