One of my favorite features about the iPhone is the ability to wirelessly share my internet connection on my GSM line. After iOS 4.3, a menu called Staff Hotspot / Personal Hotspot was added under the Settings menu. Using this menu, you can easily and quickly share your iPhone’s internet connection wirelessly.
In our tests, I enabled internet sharing for six people. Perhaps it would have accepted more connections, but we couldn’t test it because we didn’t have enough devices.
There are three issues I’ve identified with wireless internet sharing. Actually, it’s more accurate to call it a deficiency than a problem.
1.Wireless internet sharing can only share internet over a GSM network. For example, if you have a 3G connection with your iPhone and your phone is connected to a WiFi line. Your internet access from your phone can be accessed through the WiFi line, but the other people connected to your phone can access the internet over the GSM line.
2. When you connect your iPhone to your company’s line via VPN, you think the other person connected to you can also use the VPN connection, but that’s not the case. 3. Your phone gets very hot when you turn on the Wi-Fi access point and someone connects to it.
