Seeing the children getting bored after breakfast on Sunday morning, I had to do something to stimulate their dull minds. As I went into a back room and wandered around, the stone pine cones that we collected from Alibeyköy Dam a long time ago caught my eye. While I was thinking these would make beautiful decorations, I came up with the idea of putting square pieces of wood underneath. The square pieces had been sitting on the pine cones for a long time, and I couldn’t decide what to do.Materials:
1. Unopened pine cone
2. You can also use a wooden block or something else to sit under.
3. Colored LEDs
4. Some wire, a battery
5. A drill and a little dexterity.
First, we drill from the bottom of the pine cone upwards using a thick-tipped drill. Then, using a thinner-tipped drill, we drill the holes where we’ll place the LEDs. We thread the wires of our colored LEDs through the drilled holes and pull them out through the holes below. We connect the wires of our LEDs to our batteries and light them.
Of course, the work I’ve described here in two lines actually took us all day, but the happy expressions on the children’s faces were worth all the effort. Yeliz and Mert are also eager to collect pine cones 🙂
